Bandits kill businessman in Kwara community

Bandits on Friday reportedly killed a businessman identified only as Jeremiah and another person on a motorcycle with him while returning from the Lade Weekly Market in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
A local who spoke to the Peoples Gazette on Saturday, said the duo were attacked along Lade–Gbangede at about 5:00 p.m.
“They were riding on motorcycles and returning from Lade Weekly Market yesterday when bandits shot at them. It was around 5pm while returning to their village,” he told The Gazette.
The local added that the bandits were heading to their camp in Gbangede axis when they saw the two men and shot at them.
“They shot at them because the bandits feared they might report to the vigilantes. A bullet hit one on his arm while another bullet landed on the stomach of the other man.
“The one who was hit on the arm is still receiving treatment in Lade Hospital. But the one shot on his belly was rushed to Lafiagi Hospital but he died,” he said.
Contacted for her reaction to the development, the state police spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said she would get back to this reporter.
She had yet to do so as of the time this report was published.
