Katsina student shines in U.S., Gov Radda cheers

Governor Dikko Radda has congratulated Halima Sa’adu for her outstanding performance in the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Programme in the United States.
Mr Radda, in a statement on Monday by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Kaula, described the girl’s achievement as a source of pride and inspiration to the people of Katsina.
The governor said the success of the Sarki Umar Faruq Umar Secondary School, Daura, student reflected the immense potential of Katsina youths when provided with quality education, mentorship, and opportunities to excel.
He noted that Miss Sa’adu, who represented Nigeria in the international exchange programme, distinguished herself during her one-year academic stay at Sylvan Hills High School in Arkansas.
According to him, she emerged as the best student for January 2026 and earned certificates of proficiency in both English and Hausa.
Mr Radda said the achievement demonstrated her academic excellence, leadership qualities, and commitment to promoting cultural values.
The governor added that Miss Sa’adu’s success validated his administration’s continued investment in the education sector, particularly in improving learning outcomes and expanding access to quality education.
He also commended the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, led by Yusuf Sulaiman-Jibia, for creating opportunities for students to compete at the global level.
Mr Radda noted that Miss Sa’adu was among only seven Nigerian students selected for the prestigious programme, which provides participants with leadership training, academic exposure, and cross-cultural experiences.
He expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills she acquired would positively impact her future endeavours and inspire other students across the state.
The governor congratulated Sa’adu, her family, teachers, and the entire SUFU Secondary School community on the achievement and wished her continued success in her future pursuits.
