LGAN decorates Mese as AACT ambassador

The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria has decorated Shola Mese as an All Africa Challenge Trophy ambassador.
Mr Mese, the vice-captain of Ogunu Golf Club in Warri, Delta, and founder of the Shola Mese Foundation, received the honour when the LGAN president, Lami Onayi Ahmed, and her team paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Abuja.
The LGAN president described the AACT as a platform to promote women’s golf in Africa.
Ms Ahmed said the 2026 AACT would be held in Abuja from November 2 to 7, attracting participants from more than 30 African countries. According to her, the championship will boost tourism, encourage youth participation and strengthen Nigeria’s profile in international golf.
She said Mr Mese’s appointment reflected his commitment to golf development and support for women-focused initiatives.
Ms Ahmed added that “Mese embodies excellence, leadership and dedication to the growth of golf in Nigeria. His appointment as AACT Ambassador will inspire golfers, attract stakeholders and strengthen Nigeria’s presence in continental competitions.”
She added that preparations for the championship were progressing steadily with support from government agencies and private partners.
The association also presented Ms Mese with an award of appreciation for his contributions to golf development and women’s empowerment.
