Residents laud road, drainage projects in Orile-Agege

Residents and business owners in Orile-Agege, Lagos State, say economic optimism has returned as road and drainage projects in Egbatedo and Dada Akapo streets near completion.
Speaking on Thursday, they expressed joy over the intervention, noting that it had permanently mitigated perennial flooding in the area.
A resident, Tolu Ogunranti, said the infrastructure upgrade had restored peace of mind to her family.
“I can now sleep without fear of water entering my home whenever it rains. Flooding no longer disrupts our daily routine,” she said.
Wahab Ogunmaike, a local trader, described the infrastructure drive as a major boost to the local economy.
“This project has given traders renewed hope. Movement is easier, and customers are returning.
“Businesses can now thrive without fear of waterlogged streets,” Mr Ogunmaike said.
Another resident, Idowu Omotoba, said the projects had restored confidence, adding that community members could now move freely during heavy rainfall.
Commending the local government, Femi Owoeye said the project had changed the face of Orile-Agege and praised the council’s focus on grassroots development.
Earlier, the executive chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Akinola Idowu, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure.
Mr Idowu assured residents that the projects would ease flooding, improve safety, boost commerce and restore dignity to the Orile-Agege community.
