Man gathers beer brands in each of 48 countries playing at 2026 World Cup

An Instagram influencer identified only as Gus with the handle @goosetavh has drawn attention from netizens after collecting different brands of beer originating from each of the 48 countries participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Mr Gus posted the picture of his collection on Instagram, which features several manufacturers including Tango from Algeria, Quilmes from Argentina, Australia’s Coopers XPA, and Stieg| Hell of Australia among others.
The collection also includes beers from countries where alcohol consumption is largely prohibited due to Islamic laws, yet which are represented at the World Cup. These include Egypt (Stella), Iran (Istak Malt), Iraq (Malt 0.0 Pineapple), Morocco (Casablanca), Jordan (Petra), Qatar (Fizzin Pineapple), Tunisia (Celtia) and Saudi Arabia (Moussy Lemon Mint).
It is not the first time Mr Gus, who describes himself as the ‘World Cup beers guy,’ has embarked on an adventure of collection of beer brands from countries fearuring in major football tournaments.
Ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Mr Gus collected beers from the 32 countries that took part in the tournament. One year later, he did the same for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, acquiring 32 different beers from the participating nations, which included Stars from Nigeria.
It was the same for the Women’s European championship last year, gathering beers from each of the 16 participants. He also got 24 beers for the 2024 European championship.
Mr Gus has also collected beers for non-sporting events, including Eurovision and Waitangi Day. His latest quest has sparked reactions on social media, especially due to his choice of beer from some countries.
“This is awesome. Not a bad choice for Canadian beer. Usually it’s molson Canadian which is the worst lol,” Instagram user @cmatheson06 wrote in response to Mr Gus choosing Labatt Blue from Canada.
@96gwendolynn, “So proud you choose Hertog Jan instead of the obvious Heineken,” commented regarding the choice from The Netherlands.
Some of the commenters knocked the initiative, including user @crisp_fall_wind, who wrote, “So he took the list of teams that qualified for the World Cup, went to a beer store and bought a beer from each country that qualified? That’s impressive?.”
The Peoples Gazette couldn’t not immediately explain what becomes of the beers after the end of each tournament.
