Four suspected motorcycle robbers arrested in Minna

The Niger State police command says it arrested four suspects in connection with separate cases of motorcycle theft in the Tunga area of Minna, the state capital.
A statement on Thursday by the state police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, said that two of the suspects allegedly attempted to steal a parked motorcycle on June 11, 2026.
He stated, “On 11th June, 2026 at about 7.30pm, a report was received at Tudun-Wada Div that a victim parked his motorcycle in front of his house within Tunga area of Minna, and two persons attempted to move the motorcycle away.
“The victim sighted them and he raised alarm which attracted neighbours and vigilante men in the area.”
The police identified the suspect as Suleiman Mohammed of Kateren-Gwari, Minna, and Umar Sabo of Kontagora.
Mr Abiodun said the suspects were taken into custody at the Tudun-Wada Division, where they allegedly confessed to attempting to steal the motorcycle.
In a separate incident, on June 15, 2026, at about 2 p.m., police operatives attached to the Tudun-Wada Division arrested 28-year-old Kasimu Adamu with a suspected stolen Bajaj motorcycle along General Hospital Road in Minna.
“During preliminary investigation it was discovered that the motorcycle was snatched from a victim on 14th June 2026 along building material market road,” he added.
Mr Abiodun said further investigation led to the arrest of another suspect, Mansir Salisu, 30, in Angwan-Biri, Bosso, on June 16.
He was identified as an alleged member of a motorcycle-snatching syndicate.
He noted that a search of Salisu’s residence led to the recovery of another Bajaj motorcycle, which the police said the suspect allegedly confessed was stolen from a victim.
The police added that the four suspects remain under investigation.
