APC’s Shuaibu wins Kano by-election

He said that Mr Shuaibu polled 35,356 votes to defeat Lawal Garba-Haruna of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Rabiu Shuaibu, winner of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election.

The Returning Officer, Umar Sani, declared Mr Shuaibu the winner of the election held on Saturday.

He said that Mr Shuaibu polled 35,356 votes to defeat Lawal Garba-Haruna of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), who scored 268 votes, and the LP’s Abubakar Yahaya-Muhammad, who scored 98 votes.

“The election was contested. That Rabiu Shuaibu of APC having certified the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he said.

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan of the NNPP.
