The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji for emerging as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State off-cycle governorship election held on Saturday.

A statement on Sunday by Uba Sani, who is the governor of Kaduna State and chairman of the ruling party campaign council for the Ekiti State governorship poll, described Mr Oyebanji’s 319,224 votes as “a remarkable and resounding victory.”

Mr Sani said the victory affirmed the governor’s performance in office, his inclusive style of leadership and his steadfast commitment to the progress, stability and development of the state.

Mr Sani stated, “It equally represents a clear expression of confidence by the people of Ekiti in continuity, purposeful governance, and the consolidation of the significant gains and achievements recorded under his administration.”

“By re-electing Governor Oyebanji, the people have once again demonstrated their abiding faith in progressive governance and in a leadership philosophy that places the welfare, aspirations, and shared prosperity of citizens at the very heart of public service,” he said.

He said the election’s outcome was also a proof of the support and enabling environment provided to subnational governments by President Bola Tinubu.

“Through courageous reforms, strategic interventions, and a deliberate commitment to strengthening the capacity of states, the President has continued to create conditions that empower governors to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy and accelerate socio-economic development across the federation,” he stated.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, local and international observers, the media and other stakeholders, noting that their professionalism, dedication and collective efforts ensured a peaceful, credible, transparent and successful electoral process.

“I also urge all political parties and candidates who participated in the election to embrace the spirit of statesmanship and join hands with Governor Oyebanji in the overriding interest of Ekiti State and its continued growth and prosperity,” he said.
