Miner nabbed, jailed for stealing door

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced an 18-year-old miner, Felix Obed, to 18 months’ imprisonment for stealing a fabricated iron door.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charges of conspiracy, trespass and theft filed against him by the police.
The magistrate, Hannatu Ashom, sentenced the convict to 18 months in prison with an option of a N130,000 fine.
Reviewing the facts, the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on April 28 at the ‘A’ Diversion Police Station by the complainant, Adekera Kuma.
Mr Gokwat said the convict conspired with his friend (at large), trespassed into the complainant’s facility, and stole a fabricated iron door worth N55,000.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 316 to 346 of the Penal Code Law.
