The Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line) has recruited 100 casual workers as part of measures to enhance its operations.

The state Commissioner for Transport, Haruna Isa, made this known on Wednesday in Kano during a capacity-building workshop for its personnel.

Mr Isa stated the state government is set to implement reforms aimed at repositioning the transportation sector for effective service delivery.

“The training is necessary as it  prepares to introduce compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered vehicles into its fleet.
All staff must be adequately prepared for the transition,” he said.

He urged participants to take full advantage of the training and improve their knowledge and skills in modern transportation services.

On his part, the Chairman of the Kano Line Resuscitation Committee, Saidu Abdullahi, said the training was designed to equip staff with the required knowledge and address challenges of contemporary transport operations.

He commended the Kano State Government for supporting the revitalisation of the Kano Line through the provision of infrastructure and  renovation.

The chairman also praised the dedication of its staff in ensuring  proper management of their vehicles despite operational challenges.

He assured the workers that management would continue to prioritise their welfare to enhance productivity and encouraged them to remain committed to the organisation’s objectives.

The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of letters of employment to the newly recruited workers by the commissioner.
