2026 World Cup: U.S. knock out Bosnia-Herzegovina, advance to round of 16

On Thursday, the United States secured their first World Cup knockout win in 24 years to advance to the round of 16 by eliminating Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32.
Folarin Balogun scored in the 45th minute, and Malik Tillman made it two in the 82nd minute, giving Mauricio Pochettino’s side a 2-0 victory.
After scoring the first goal, Balogun was shown a straight red card in the 64th minute, following an intervention by the Video Assistant Referee.
The second goal for the U.S. was scored despite being a man down, and Bosnia and Herzegovina failed to take advantage of their one-man advantage.
The U.S. will now face Belgium at the Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington, for a place in the quarter-final.
