LASEPA shuts 10 establishments over environmental violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 10 establishments across the state for persistent violations of environmental regulations.

The enforcement, carried out on Wednesday, was disclosed by the agency on its X handle on Thursday.

According to LASEPA, the exercise was in line with the Lagos State Government’s directive on strict compliance with environmental laws.

The agency said Grandeur Meridian, located on Obasa Akiniyi Street, Oluwaga, Ipaja, was sealed for non-compliance with its directives.

It said Lasola (Spazio Bar), located on Ipaja Road, Fatolu Bus Stop, Ipaja, was sealed for noise pollution and non-compliance with its directives.

LASEPA also sealed Millennium Restaurant, located at Gate Bus Stop, Ayobo, Ipaja, and O2 Exquisite Suites & Tower, on Jimoh Akinremi Street, Jimoh Bus Stop, Akowonjo, for non-compliance with its directives.

According to the agency, Chirozz Hotel & Suites, located on Samuel Street, by Vulcaniser Bus Stop, Akowonjo, Egbeda, was sealed for noise pollution and non-compliance with its directives.

It added that House 7 Hotel, on Remi Akande Street, Egbeda, and House 48, on Isiba Oluwo Street, Egbeda, were sealed for non-compliance with its directives.

Other affected establishments are Exclusive Hotel, located on Ishan Kimishe, Akesan Bus Stop, and City Int’l Motel, on Chief Olu-Adegbite Street, off Oladun Street, Council Bus Stop, Idimu, both sealed for non-compliance with the agency’s directives.

LASEPA also shut Sabola Ventures Ltd., located at Km 11, LASU-Isheri Road, Igando, for operating without evidence of an effluent treatment plant and discharging untreated effluent into public drains.

Speaking on the development, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and the environment.

“Compliance with environmental regulations is a collective responsibility,” he said.

Mr Ajayi warned that the agency would continue to intensify enforcement against individuals and corporate organisations that violate environmental laws.

He urged residents and business owners to adopt environmentally responsible practices, comply with regulatory requirements and collaborate with the agency to build a more sustainable Lagos.
