Taraba judicial administration geared towards excellence, chief judge says
Justice Joel Agya, chief judge of Taraba, on Friday said judicial reforms under his watch are geared towards excellence in judicial practice and justice delivery in the state.
Mr Agya made the declaration at the 2026 law week, organised by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Wukari branch, held in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba.
The theme for the Law Week is “The Judiciary as a Citadel of Justice: A Myth or a Reality for the Common Man and Legal Practitioners.”
He noted that even in the face of glaring challenges such as delays, inadequate infrastructure, and resource constraints, the judiciary continued to work towards strengthening public confidence through reforms, innovations, and adherence to the highest standards of integrity.
“In Taraba, we remain committed to improving the administration of justice through the review of procedural rules, the adoption of technology-driven processes, continuous judicial education and measures aimed at reducing delays in the disposal of cases.
“As part of these reforms and innovations, judges of the Taraba High Court underwent practical artificial intelligence (AI) training recently to enhance efficiency and modernise judicial processes.
“These efforts are geared towards ensuring that justice is not only done but is seen to be done,” he added.
Mr Agya commended the leadership of the branch for choosing a theme that challenged all stakeholders in the justice system, which would enable all to reflect on the role and effectiveness of the judiciary in contemporary society.
Earlier, Hassan Saubana, chairman of the NBA Wukari branch, said the bar week provided a noble opportunity to enhance the effectiveness of the justice delivery system and strengthen the partnership between the bench and the bar.
Mr Saubana thanked all resource persons, judges and other guests for participating in the bar week.
He assured that the branch would continue to work in close synergy with the bench and relevant stakeholders in the justice system to achieve efficient justice delivery for the people.
