Man, 29, arraigned over alleged N8.3 million fraud

A 29-year-old man, Samson Onuoha, who allegedly obtained N8.3 million from an automobile company by fraud, was dragged before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday.
The defendant is standing trial before Magistrate Olufunke Ogun on two counts bordering on obtaining by false pretence and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Esther Adesulu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in 2025 at the trade fair complex in Ojo.
She alleged that the defendant obtained motor shocks from a company called A.M.I. Automobile, represented by a man identified as Anieto, with a promise to pay, but failed to do so.
The prosecutor said the police eventually arrested and charged him.
The offences, she said, contravened the provisions of Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Ms Ogun granted the defendant bail of N1 million with two sureties each in like sum.
She said the sureties must be blood relatives with verified addresses and adjourned the case until July 28, for mention.
