A 19-year-old Nigerian, Emeka Dawuda-Wodu, has been jailed in the United Kingdom for the murder of 35-year-old Ebrima Cham on December 19, 2019, at Groove road, Hounslow in West London.

He got sentenced to 31 years in prison, alongside two others who were involved.

During the investigation, a post mortem examination conducted on December 21 showed the deceased got stabbed 11 times, which resulted in his death.

Mr Dawuda-Wodu was handed 31 years for murder and another six years for perverting the course of justice in the murder of William Algar, a 53-year-old who was found dead in January 2020 at Nowell Road, and 11 years for grievous bodily harm.

He was not found guilty for the murder of Mr Algar but assisted in disposing of the body, thereby perverting the course of justice.

The 31 years jail term pronounced on August 16 by a jury after several weeks of trial at Old Bailey is to run concurrently with the six and 11 years jail term.

The case handler, detective chief inspector Vicky Tunstall, said the jail term passed to the convicts showed the level of threat they posed to society. 

“The sentences passed down by the court, especially in relation to the murder of Brim Cham properly reflects the danger these men represent to society and the public can feel confident they will be off the streets for a very long time,” Mr Tunstall said.

Mr Cham, before his death, was a drug dealer known for robbing his colleagues. This behaviour led to a clash with Zimele Dube, another drug dealer who orchestrated Mr Algar’s murder, with the help of Mr Dawuda-Wodu and Simon Emmons.
