Outrage greets ICE’s killing of Mexican immigrant Lorenzo Salgado Araujo

Outrage has enveloped the killing of a Mexican immigrant, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during a deadly enforcement raid in east Houston, United States of America.
ICE, in a statement amid backlash over the Mr Araujo’s killing, said the slain Mexican attempted to evade arrest as agents conducted a traffic stop as part of a “targeted operation.”
The agency also said he rammed into a law enforcement vehicle and ignored verbal commands before an ICE agent opened fire in self-defence, adding that Mr Araujo was living in the U.S. without legal status.
The death of Mr Araujo in the deadly ICE raid has sparked reactions from the public as his family members call for a full investigation into his death.
Protesters gathered in Houston on Wednesday, demanding an investigation into Mr Araujo’s death.
Ronaldo Salgado, son of the slain Mexican, at a press conference on Wednesday, said, “I am calling for a full investigation into the events that transpired yesterday — yesterday, July 7. He did not deserve to die.”
Teary Mr Salgado said his father “did not deserve to be reduced to a headline of Mexican man shot and killed by ICE. He deserved to live a quiet life as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a husband, a father, and a job creator for dozens of men who also wanted the American dream.”
Mr Araujo’s death comes as another case, at least the eighth death under President Donald Trump administration’s immigration campaign.
