Benin-Sapele concrete pavement will last 80 years, Gov. Okpebholo says

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo has assured residents that the Benin-Sapele road, being constructed with concrete, will last up to 80 years.
Mr Okpebholo gave the assurance shortly after inspecting the road in Benin, the state capital, on Thursday.
“You can see the concrete pavement all the way. This is serious, expensive work,” he said. “It is a quality job that will last for at least 80 years before we even need to think about major maintenance.”
The governor said Mr Tinubu is working tirelessly to ensure that project deliverables nationwide, including in Edo, are completed on time.
“It’s a quality job, and everything is going on well. There is nothing else to say but to thank President Bola Tinubu for providing the funds.
“The reason we see this level of development in Edo currently is because President Tinubu is not sleeping,” he said
Residents on the axis trooped out to see the governor, commending and singing his praises.
One of the residents, Pat Ogie, said the construction has helped alleviate the suffering of road users.
“There used to be heavy gridlock on this road, but the Okpebholo administration has now made it a thing of the past. God will bless our governor for us,” she said.
Another resident, Justina Osaghae, said the governor has done well and that the people are full of praise for him, pointing out that the quality of the road is highly commendable.
The site engineer, Femi Fatola, said the road is 10 kilometres, and that 4.5 kilometres had already been cast.
