The chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, Kumayon Ajose, has disclosed plans to reconstruct and remodel Morogbo motor park in Badagry.

Mr Ajose said on Friday in Lagos that the reconstruction would be part of efforts to improve infrastructure, restore order and enhance commercial activities in the council area.

The chairman said the project would transform the motor park into a more organised and functional facility that would benefit transport unions, traders and the council.

“The reconstruction is aimed at repositioning Morogbo market into a truly modern commercial hub by providing essential infrastructure while ensuring the park serves the purpose for which it was established,” he said.

Mr Ajose expressed concern over poor environmental sanitation and indiscriminate waste disposal around the park.

He said the council would not hesitate to take decisive action against unhealthy practices.

“I urge traders to prepare for the temporary evacuation of the park, as reconstruction work will begin soon.

“I assure you that you will be given priority in the allocation of available trading spaces once the project is completed,” Mr Ajose said.

The supervisor for parks in the LCDA, Adewale Fagbamila, said the council was worried about the poor environmental situation in the Agbara and Morogbo communities.

Mr Fagbamila said that dumping of refuse on roadsides, inside drainage channels and the median of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway was unacceptable.

The council manager, Moruf Adesanya, also condemned indiscriminate waste disposal in the area.

He said that the council was committed to restoring cleanliness and promoting a healthier environment.

On behalf of the transport unions and traders in Morogbo market, Alhaji Teliat Gbadamosi praised the council for consulting stakeholders before embarking on the project.

He pledged cooperation from the unions and traders.
