Police nab 22-year-old Abia man for alleged robbery

The Abia State Police Command has arrested Chidera Okorie, a 22-year-old resident of Obinolu Ngodo Isiochi area of the state.

A statement on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka, said that the officers of Isuochi arrested the suspect for robbing members of the public.

“On actionable intelligence, on 05/07/2026, operatives of the Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended Chidera Okorie, a 22-year-old male from Obinolu Ngodo Isiochi,” she said.

She said the suspect is known to be habitually robbing unsuspecting members of the public using a stainless lighter designed to resemble a pistol.

The police spokesperson added that the suspect’s act instilled fear in his victims and dispossessed them of their belongings.

Ms Chinaka said that during the suspect’s arrest, some items were recovered from his possession.

She added that the investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon its conclusion.

Ms Chinaka urged members of the public to report any such security concerns to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency hotlines.
