At least two killed, five injured in Toronto street festival shooting

The police said investigations are ongoing to fish out the shooter, warning the public to stay away from the area.

At least two people were killed, and six were injured as a shooting rocked a Toronto street festival in Canada on Sunday, police authorities said.

In a post on X, Toronto police confirmed the shooting happened at St Clair Ave W & Arlington Ave at about 8:12 p.m

“Six people have been located with gunshot wounds. Tragically, two victims have been pronounced deceased,” the police said.

The police said investigations are ongoing to fish out the shooter, warning the public to stay away from the area.

“A large police presence remains in the area as officers continue their investigation. Please continue to avoid the area and follow directions from emergency personnel,” the police said.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, in a statement on X, said, “I am horrified by the shooting that has killed two people at the Salsa on St. Clair Festival in Toronto.

While Mr Xarney sent condolences to the families of those killed, he thanked the police officers and other first responders whose fast action prevented further tragedy.
