The Ekiti State government has praised traditional rulers for strengthening security, political stability, and peace across the state’s 16 local government areas through sustained collaboration.

Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye gave the commendation on Saturday during the first coronation anniversary of the Elemure of Emure-Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ajiboye, in Emure-Ekiti.

Ms Afuye assured traditional rulers that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration would continue to treat them with respect while preserving the dignity, sanctity, and relevance of traditional institutions.

She said government collaboration with Emure-Ekiti had curtailed kidnappings and killings that previously threatened the community, restoring confidence among residents and improving public safety.

Ms Afuye praised Emure indigenes, chiefs, and eminent personalities for supporting the traditional ruler, urging residents to remain vigilant because the town shares a boundary with neighbouring Ondo communities.

She pledged continued inclusion of traditional rulers in governance, saying they would participate in critical decisions that could strengthen security, peace, and sustainable development.

The deputy governor commended Oba Ajiboye for fostering unity, fairness, and peaceful coexistence, saying his leadership had promoted togetherness and strengthened harmony throughout Emure township.

“Since the advent of this administration, every installation of traditional rulers has followed due process, with no allegation of imposition against our government.

“Working with security agencies and the Elemure-in-Council, we have stopped the disturbing trend. Residents must remain vigilant to protect these security gains,” Ms Afuye said.

Responding, Mr Ajiboye commended Mr Oyebanji and the security agencies for enhancing security across the Emure axis, saying the restored peace enabled significant developmental achievements within one year.

The traditional ruler also praised his council and subjects worldwide for embracing unity, saying their support had enabled him to lead effectively without unnecessary divisions or conflict.

He pledged fairness to every indigene regardless of political affiliation or religious belief, promising to prioritise policies that would advance Emure’s overall growth and prosperity.

Mr Ajiboye, a retired senior customs officer, was installed in 2025 following the death of his predecessor, Oba Emmanuel Adebayo.
