Gov Bago inaugurates school projects in Niger

Governor Umaru Bago on Saturday inaugurated a renovated classroom block and a newly constructed ICT centre at a girls’ science school in Paikoro, Niger.
The facilities were sponsored by Justice Zainab Bashir of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria to improve educational infrastructure in the community.
The classroom block was renovated, while the ICT centre was newly constructed for the school.
Mr Bago described the intervention as critical, saying it complemented his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education across the state.
He praised Ms Bashir for giving back to her community, describing her contribution as exemplary and worthy of emulation by other privileged citizens.
According to the governor, the renovated school will strengthen girl-child education and create better learning opportunities for students in the Paikoro community.
“This gesture is exemplary and complementary to our administration’s efforts to improve education across the state,” Bago said.
The governor directed his deputy chief of staff, Sadiq Yusuf, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the school is fenced and provided with a school bus.
He also pledged additional chairs, desks, and qualified teachers to improve teaching, learning, and the overall educational environment at the school.
Mr Bago charged the Paikoro Local Government chairman, Aminu Yandayi, to safeguard the facilities and ensure beneficiaries use them responsibly for lasting community development.
Ms Bashir said she sponsored the projects because education remains one of the most powerful instruments for transforming lives and uplifting communities.
She disclosed that she had also installed 200 solar-powered street lights, while construction of a town clinic was ongoing.
Ms Bashir appreciated the governor for supporting her community development efforts and assured him she would continue investing in projects benefiting her people.
The council chairman and other dignitaries commended Justice Bashir, describing her interventions as impactful for education and community development.
Among them were lawmaker Nasiru Umar, Environment Commissioner Abubakar Mohammed, and former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada.
Speaking on behalf of students and staff, Head Girl Maryam Baba thanked Ms Bashir for renovating the school and appealed to the governor to equip the science laboratory.
