Education summit to review Tinubu’s reforms, honour sector leaders

The education minister will chair discussions on the sector’s achievements, reforms, and challenges under President Bola Tinubu at the 2026 Education Summit.

Education minister Tunji Alausa will chair discussions on the achievements, reforms and challenges of the educational sector under President Bola Tinubu at the 2026 Education Summit. This was stated in a press release statement by the chairman of the Education Correspondents Association of Nigeria, Chux Ukwuatu, on Monday.

‎The summit is expected to be held on Wednesday.

‎Mr Ukwuatu said that the summit would promote informed policy dialogue and strengthen collaboration among key stakeholders committed to educational development.

‎He said the event would bring together policymakers, education experts, academics, development partners, school administrators, researchers, civil society organisations, student representatives and media professionals from across the country. ‎

‎According to him, the gathering will provide a strategic platform for stakeholders to evaluate the impact of the Tinubu administration’s education reforms and identify practical solutions to persistent challenges confronting the sector.

‎Mr Ukwuatu said participants would also examine major reforms introduced by the federal government, assess the progress of implementation, and recommend innovative strategies to improve access, quality, and equity across all levels of education.

‎He added that the education minister would declare the summit open and lead discussions on the administration’s education agenda, highlighting milestones recorded and areas requiring sustained attention.

‎The chairman noted that representatives of government agencies, tertiary institutions, professional bodies, development partners, and the media would contribute perspectives to strengthen policy implementation and institutional performance.

‎He said the summit would also feature an award ceremony recognising individuals and institutions that have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation and commitment to advancing education and human capital development in Nigeria.
