The Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA), Imo State chapter, has inaugurated a new interim management committee to handle the affairs of the association.

This is contained in a statement by the Chairman of the interim management committee, Stanley Ohiri, who said this while addressing journalists in Owerri on Wednesday.

While Mr Ohiri emerged as interim chairman of the committee, Sam Okoli was appointed as interim secretary.

Other members of the committee include Ikenna Emeh, Tony Ukwuaku, Amara Egbuchulam, Ifeanyi Igwe and Arinze Okeke.

Mr Ohiri said that the leadership change became necessary following the successful expiration of the tenure of the executive committee led by acting chairman Eze Josephat Nwosu.

â€œOn July 7, members of the association convened to review, sign, and formally adopt a brand-new constitution aimed at steering the organisation toward greater efficiency and progress.

â€œIn alignment with the new constitutional framework, a seven-member Interim Management Committee has now been appointed to oversee the affairs of the association,” he said.

He added that following their appointment, the leadership of the NHA on July 13 paid an official courtesy visit to the Imo State Commissioner for Tourism, Ernest Ibejiako, whose ministry supervises the hospitality industry in the state.

He said that during the visit, the newly adopted constitution and the Interim Management Committee were officially presented to Mr Ibejiako, who reaffirmed his support and willingness to collaborate with the NHA to elevate the state’s hospitality and tourism sector to greater heights.

Reacting to the development, the National Consultant to the NHA and former Chairman of the association in Imo State, Chima Chukwunyere, congratulated the committee and urged them to abide by the rule of law in the discharge of their functions.

He noted that the association remained one indivisible body in the state and warned against the activities of detractors.

Mr Chukwunyere served as the association’s chairman for many years before resigning in March 2025, citing personal reasons.
