Edo: Gov Okpebholo assures welders of business-friendly environment

Governor Monday Okpebholo has assured members of the Welders Association in Edo of his administration’s readiness to continue creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
The governor said this while addressing members of the association, who were on a courtesy visit to the Government House on Tuesday in Benin.
According to him, Edo is ready to partner with the welders and is already working on the epileptic power supply affecting their businesses.
“We are already working on it. A 100-megawatt project is already in the pipeline. They are building it, and it will come online before November. We will be using it here in Edo, and that is going to be one of the biggest megawatts in our state.
“We are also trying to repeat the same between Edo North and Central, to help decentralise the power system in the two senatorial districts. That is why you people voted for us to make your lives more comfortable. The roads we’re constructing today are for the people,” he said.
The governor assured the group that his administration would complete rehabilitation work on the Benin-Sapele road, adding that the work is 90 per cent completed.
The governor appealed to the association to support Bola Tinubu and the current administration in Edo, saying that the government belonged to the people. He also urged them not to allow themselves to be used negatively in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Peter Osaigie, the president of the association, thanked the governor for creating an enabling environment for business to thrive in the state.
He said their major challenge is epileptic power supply, and appealed for a welder village that could accommodate their members. He commended the governor for his fight against insecurity, assuring him of the association’s commitment to joining the fight against out-of-school children in Edo.
