Trump will attend 2026 World Cup final, says White House

U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the 2026 World Cup final, featuring Argentina and Spain, scheduled for Sunday.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Mr Trump will be present at Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
“His attendance will cap what has been the most-watched, most secure and most successful World Cup in American history,” Ms Leavitt said.
She added that Mr Trump will arrive in New York City on Friday to attend a FIFA reception at Trump Tower in Manhattan.
White House official statement confirmed FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s statement that Mr Trump will attend the final.
“We will be together with the president, enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course,” Mr Infantino said on June 23 on Fox & Friends.
Mr Trump, who has not attended any of the 102 World Cup games so far, is expected to present the trophy alongside World Cup rings to the winners between Argentina and Spain.
A total of thirty rings will be presented to the world champions, and a further 1,996 rings will go on sale to football fans across the globe.
