The police command in Bauchi has arrested Clement Anthony, 40, for fatally shooting Jacob Bature in the Unguwar Ngas area of Inkil.
According to a statement on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, the suspect was also found in possession of an illegal firearm during his arrest.
“Accordingly, the report was received at ‘A’ Division Township, Bauchi, on 19th July 2026 at about 2030hrs, from a 47-year-old man of Unguwar Ngas, Bauchi LGA,” the statement said.
The complainant reported that at about 7:00 p.m. the suspect, armed with a gun, shot the victim.
“He was immediately rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a medical doctor examined him and confirmed him dead as a result of the gunshot. The corpse has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for further investigation,” he said.
Mr Habib said following the killing, police operatives swung into action and arrested the suspect, adding that a locally made single-barrel gun and one empty cartridge were recovered from him.
