The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed three nominees for appointment to the Local Government Service Commission and deferred consideration of two others forwarded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for further legislative scrutiny.

The House confirmed Hakeem Bamgbola, Olaleye Samsudeen, and Olabanji Folashade while deferring the confirmation of Durosimi Yinka and Seriki Ahmed pending further legislative consideration.

Presenting the report, the chairman of the 12-member ad hoc committee on the screening of nominees, Mojeed Adebola, said all the nominees appeared before the panel and were screened in line with constitutional provisions.

Mr Adebola said the committee assessed the nominees’ credentials, experience, performance, character, presentation, and responses to questions before recommending the confirmation of three nominees and further scrutiny of the remaining two.

“After reviewing the nominees and their documents, the committee recommended the confirmation of three nominees.

“The committee advised that the appointments of Durosimi Yinka and Seriki Bamu be stepped down to allow for further scrutiny,” he said.

The Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, thereafter put the committee’s recommendations to a voice vote, and the House adopted the report, confirming three nominees, deferring two others, and adjourning plenary sine die.
