A Kaduna-based cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has renewed calls for the federal government to extend amnesty to Boko Haram terrorists and bandits, kidnapping and killing people in the country.

Mr Gumi said those opposing the idea of amnesty for terrorists are fools.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Mr Gumi said former president Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo visited and appeased Niger Delta militants with an amnesty programme.

“The former President Jonathan visited delta militants in the creeks, so also the former vice president Osinbajo. They all came up with a programme to tame the militants,” Mr Gumi said.

Mr Gumi, who advocates for Boko Haram terrorists and bandits, then asked: “Who is going to visit BH and Bandits to tame them without fools castigating them?”

Previously, Mr. Gumi had called for dialogue and amnesty for bandits and terrorists who are killing and abducting Nigerians nationwide.

He had also berated the U.S. as a country with bloodstained hands after American forces struck terrorists in Sokoto State and opposed the killing of Abu Bilal Al-Minuki, ISIS second-in-command, in a Facebook post.
