The Bauchi State police command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Mustapha Yahaya, for allegedly impersonating an officer of the state security service.

A statement on Monday by the command’s spokesman, Nafiu Habib, said the suspect was arrested in the early hours of Monday along Bayan Gari road.

He said that during questioning, the suspect claimed to be a SSS officer, Bauchi State command.

Mr Habib said further investigation showed that the claim was false.

“The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court for prosecution upon completion of investigation,” he said.
