Joe Biden has been elected the president of the United States, multiple news sources project on Saturday.

Mr. Biden defeated incumbent Donald Trump following a tenuous vote on November 3.

Mr. Trump of the Republican Party has yet to congratulate his Democratic Party rival. He has repeatedly cast doubt of the integrity of the election, saying the mail-in system that millions used to exercise their franchise was fraught with fraud.

Mr. Biden quickly updated his Twitter bio to reflect his new position as president-elect of the United States, drawing criticism from social media commenters who said he should have exercised patience until results are finally certified.
