The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said electricity supply to Maitama, Mpape and parts of Jahi in Abuja will be temporarily disrupted on Saturday, August 1, 2026, due to maintenance work at its Katampe Transmission Substation.

A statement on Friday by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the 30-minute exercise would result in a temporary reduction in bulk electricity load from the substation.

The company said its maintenance crew would load a newly installed 300MVA, 330/132/33kv power transformer at the substation between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

According to her, the reduction will affect only a few areas in Abuja.

“The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake power for onward distribution to Maitama, Mpape and parts of Jahi only for the stated period,” she said.

Ms Mbah apologised for any inconvenience the maintenance would cause electricity consumers in the affected areas.
