Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested the wife and son of a surrendered Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) finance chief and recovered terrorist logistics items during separate intelligence-led operations in Borno State.

A statement on Friday by the acting spokesperson for the operation, Mohammed Goni, said the troops also arrested suspected terrorist collaborators.

“In one of the operations conducted on 27 July 2026, troops of 5 Brigade arrested six ISWAP collaborators in Damasak, Borno State,” he said. 

He said preliminary investigations showed that the suspects were allegedly generating funds for the terrorist group through the procurement and sale of cattle at designated markets in Gubio, Damasak and Ajuwango.

According to Mr Goni, troops recovered a Volkswagen Golf car, vehicle keys, four mobile phones of different brands, cow meat and ₦317,950 from the suspects.

He added that the suspects were currently in military custody undergoing further investigation.

In a separate operation on Wednesday, the wife of an ISWAP chief financial operative and her 11-year-old son surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion through Kusuma village.

Mr Goni said preliminary investigations revealed that her husband, who reportedly served as the group’s finance chief in Jubillaram surrendered on 25 July 2026, instructed her to surrender with their son after his successful escape from the enclave.

The statement added that both individuals had been screened and currently undergoing further profiling in line with established procedures.
