Armed robbers stole Igboho supporters’ case file from our custody: SSS

The State Security Service on Wednesday told the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court that armed robbers have carted away the case file of Sunday Igboho’s supporters who have been in custody since the brutal invasion of their residence in Ibadan weeks ago.
Idowu Awo, the lawyer representing the SSS told Justice Obiora Egwuatu that the incident came when armed robbers operating a one-chance cartel attacked an official in charge of the documents.
He did not immediately say whether the incident occurred in Abuja or other parts of the country.
Following the constant disobedience of court orders by SSS on their release, the 12 Igboho associates instituted a human right suit against the SSS.
They sought an order of the court for the enforcement of their fundamental human rights enshrined under section 34, 35, 36, 41 and 46 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria1999 (as amended).
Among other reliefs sought, the applicants are asking the court to order the SSS to pay a compensation fee of N100 million for damages incurred as a result of the constant breach of their human rights.
”An order granting the sum of N100,000,000 (One Hundred Million) naira only, being aggravated and exemplary damages against the respondent in favour of the applicants for the serial breach of their constitutional rights,” their court document stated.
Mr Awo on Wednesday prayed the court for an adjournment of the matter to enable him to obtain copies of his stolen processes from the court registry.
He acknowledged being served the process by the applicant’s lawyer.
“Indeed we were served with applicant processes and we filed our counter affidavit on the 6th day of September. Unfortunately, on the 7th of September, my colleague who is supposed to appear with me in the matter was asked to bring the file to court. She boarded a vehicle owned by robbers popularly known as ”One Chance” and she was dispossessed of all her belongings including the processes. This morning i wrote a letter to the court for a certified true copy for the respondents counter affidavit,” Mr Awo said.
Mr Egwuatu however ordered the case file be sent to the court registry for reassignment as his time as the vacation judge is elapsing.
