President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Emmanuel Macron held a telephone conversation on Saturday in which the parties discussed regional security, recent wildfires in France, and bilateral cooperation.

This was disclosed by Egypt’s spokesman, Mohamed El-Shennawy, who said Mr El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with France following the wildfires that swept through some French regions recently. 

He said that Mr El-Sisi offered his condolences to President Macron for the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

The president expressed confidence in France’s ability to overcome the crisis and wished the French people continued security and prosperity.

Mr Macron thanked Egypt for its support, noting that the support reflects the strong and longstanding relationship between the two countries. 

The two leaders also reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East, focusing on efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, particularly the war involving Iran, as well as the situations in Lebanon, Libya, and the occupied Palestinian territories.

They said it is important to resolve conflicts through peaceful means to preserve regional peace and stability, and agreed to continue political consultations and coordination between their governments.

Mr Macron also inquired about the recent incident involving two ships at Egypt’s Damietta Port and expressed France’s solidarity with the Egyptian government and people over the incident.
