Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has relieved the country’s ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, of her duties.

The dismissal was announced on Monday in a decree published by the presidential office.

Ms Stefanishyna said in a Facebook post that she requested to be relieved of her duties for personal reasons.

She described her service in Washington as “the greatest honour” of her life.

“We have increased the supply of American weapons and maintained support precisely when the political environment in Washington was not in our favour,” she wrote.

Mr Zelensky has not announced her successor.

The move comes after a government reshuffle launched in July and as Kyiv seeks to maintain U.S. military support amid its ongoing war with Russia.

According to Ukrainian media, Ms Stefanishyna is under investigation by the country’s anti-corruption agency on suspicion of wrongdoing.

However, she has not been formally accused.
