Man arraigned over alleged N1.3 million motorcycle theft

A 30-year-old man, Biola Titilayo, was arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo on Friday for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued at N1.35 million.
The defendant, who resides at No. 76 Sodeke area in Abeokuta, faces a two-count charge of obtaining by false pretence and stealing, to which he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Evelyn Motim, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 2 at about 10:00 a.m. in the Sodeke area of Abeokuta.
Ms Motim said the complainant, Saheed Adenekan, gave the defendant a TVS motorcycle with registration number DED 615 VE for commercial use.
She said the defendant was expected to remit N6,000 daily to the complainant from proceeds made from operating the motorcycle.
The prosecutor alleged that Mr Titilayo remitted the agreed amount for only four days before absconding with the motorcycle.
Ms Motim said that the offences contravened Sections 419, 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The magistrate, O.O. Sam-Obaleye, adjourned the case until September 8 for the presentation of facts and sentencing.
