Ekiti man in court for allegedly stealing N30,000

A 24-year-old man, Adebayo Sunkanmi, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N30,000.

The defendant, whose address was not stated is facing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on August 9 at about 10:20 a.m. at Atikankan Area, Ado-Ekiti.

Mr Adeniyi alleged that the defendant conspired with others at large to steal N30,000 belonging to the complainant, Eniola Bose.

He also alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by constituting nuisance in a public place.

According to him, the offence contravene Sections 421, 302 and 181(1)(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Joy Raphael, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, promising that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magisetrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted bail in the sum of 50,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case until September 10 for hearing.(NAN)
