Kaduna judicial service commission promotes 223 personnel
The commission also approved and adopted new “Guidelines for Submission of Petitions in the Judiciary” for immediate implementation.
This is contained in a statement issued by the secretary of the commission, Murtala Halidu, on Wednesday.
Mr Halidu said approval for the promotions was reached at the commission’s meeting held on August 11 and 12, under the chairmanship of Justice Muhammad Tukur Mu’azu Aliyu, Chief Judge of Kaduna State.
He said the promotions were based on merit and involved 37 magistrates, 28 Alkalai (judges) and 22 Customary Court judges, among other staff.
He said the commission adopted the report of a committee set up to investigate alleged misconduct involving Mohammed Salisu, a Principal Registrar at the Chief Magistrate Court, Daura Road, Kaduna.
According to him, Mr Salisu was investigated over the alleged unauthorised auction of three vehicles.
‘’The committee recommended his prosecution, while exculpating Aliyu Yakubu-Dogara, Deputy Chief Registrar, and Salisu Jibrin-Maigana, a bailiff, from complicity,’’ he said.
The secretary said that one of the vehicles, a Toyota Corolla, had been recovered by the high court.
Mr Halidu restated the commission’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency and efficiency in the state’s judiciary.
