UK announces 2026/2027 Commonwealth fellowships opportunities for Nigerians, others

The United Kingdom has announced Commonwealth fellowships 2026/2027 for mid-career professionals and Academic Fellowships for PhD-holding university staff.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC), a UK government’s scholarship scheme, made the 2026/2027 fellowships opportunities for Nigerians and other Commonwealth countries on its website.
“Applications are currently open for the Commonwealth Fellowships 2026/27! Professional Fellowships for mid-career professionals and Academic Fellowships for PhD-holding university staff,” the CSC said.
The fellowship application is open to applicants from Nigeria and other Commonwealth countries until August 25, 2026.
A total of 40 fellowship programmes in different fields are available for Nigerians and other Commonwealth countries citizens.
“Approximately 10 Fellowships are available for citizens of Commonwealth countries not eligible for ODA (overseas development assistance),” the CSC said, adding “Approximately 30 Fellowships available for citizens of Commonwealth countries eligible for ODA.”
Founded in 1960, the CSC has funded over 31,000 individuals to study in the UK and gain skills, acquire knowledge, and build networks to tackle global development challenges.
