The Anambra Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has charged school heads across the state to embrace and drive the digital transformation agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the basic education sector.

Justina Anyadiegwu, chairman of the ASUBEB, gave the charge at an annual leadership retreat for head teachers and directors on Friday in Awka.

Ms Anyadiegwu stressed the need for every school to align with the administration’s vision of transforming the state into a smart, digitally driven society.

“The commitment of school heads to the digital agenda will show their readiness to move the education system beyond mediocrity and ensure that Anambra does not remain a spectator in the 21st century.

“ASUBEB, under the Soludo administration, is systematically replacing analogue practices with data-driven systems while promoting the development of smart learning spaces across public schools.

“So, I urge school heads to take ownership of the digital transformation process and ensure that the benefits of the initiative reach both teachers and pupils,” she said.

Also speaking, ASUBEB Consultant Stella Ezepue called for unwavering leadership commitment to the digital transformation agenda.

Ms Ezepue said school heads had a critical role to play in ensuring that the state’s investment in technology translated into improved teaching and learning outcomes.

On her part, the Director of Quality Assurance, Comfort Ezewuzie, urged school heads to adhere strictly to established standards and ensure measurable improvements in teaching practices.

Similarly, Special Adviser to Mr Soludo on Youth Reformation, Nelson Omenugha, urged teachers to uphold discipline and integrity in discharging their responsibilities.

Mr Omenugha said teachers should be ‘teachers, not cheaters,’ and therefore charged them to serve as role models to their pupils.

He said reforming Anambra children should start in the classroom, adding that digital skills must be complemented by discipline, integrity, and good character.

“The combination of sound character and digital competence is necessary to produce a generation capable of sustaining the vision of Soludo’s administration.

“I strongly believe that the ongoing digital transformation in basic education will position Anambra schools to meet the demands of the 21st century,” he said.
