Security operatives intensify patrols ahead of Osun poll

Security operatives have intensified patrols and surveillance ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election to ensure the exercise is conducted peacefully and to protect residents and electoral materials.
Security personnel were deployed across Ile-Ife on Friday ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state as preparations continued for the exercise and security operations.
In Ile-Ife, security personnel were noticeable around major roads and strategic locations as residents continued normal activities ahead of Saturday’s poll, with no major disruptions reported so far.
Security personnel were also deployed in major areas of the ancient city, including Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Mayfair, Lagere, and Garage-Ilesa, among others, as security coverage expanded across the city.
The intensified efforts of security operatives aimed to prevent violence, electoral malpractice, and other criminal activities before the election and ensure residents remained safe throughout the exercise and its aftermath.
The Nigerian Army, police officers, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were on the ground to monitor the election and maintain security across affected areas of the city.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, with security agencies expected to maintain law and order before, during and after voting to ensure a peaceful process for all.
Residents of Ile-Ife are expected to exercise their franchise peacefully and avoid acts that could disrupt the electoral process or threaten the safety of other citizens during the election period.
