Boxer Prichard Colón dies at 33 after spending 221 days in coma

Former Puerto Rican professional boxer Prichard Colón has passed away.
The boxer’s father confirmed his death on Thursday on Facebook, after suffering a severe brain injury in the ring that has left the athlete in a coma for over 200 days
“I regret to inform you of the passing of my son Prichard from this earthly world; now he is in a better world. I did everything possible to fulfill his wish, his dream of bringing him on vacation to Puerto Rico as much as he desired but couldn’t,” Mr Colon said.
The father also thanked fans and supporters for their years of love and prayers.
The promising talent’s career ended after one fight, which he faced American Boxer Terrel Willmas in Fairfax, Virginia, in 2015, where he sustained several illegal punches that led to a brain haemorrhage from the fight.
The brain injury left Colon in a Coma for 221 days, leaving him under extensive care.
Before the bout, Colon held a record of 16 victories, 13 by knockout, and a single loss.
