Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan have appointed coach Salisu Yusuf as the club’s new technical adviser ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Yusuf has been involved with many Nigerian national teams, serving as an assistant coach of the Super Eagles and also in charge of the Super Eagles B and Nigeria Under-23 teams. 

This is contained in an official statement by the club’s management issued on Friday in Ibadan.

The appointment comes shortly after the club parted ways with head coach Nurudeen Aweroro, bringing an end to his spell in charge of the Ibadan-based club.

Yusuf, who has vast experience in Nigerian football and has previously handled several top clubs as well as the national team, now takes charge of Shooting Stars as the club prepares for another challenging NPFL campaign.

According to the statement, Yusuf is expected to bring his wealth of knowledge and technical expertise to the team as Shooting Stars hope to build on their previous campaign and compete strongly in the new season.

It added that the arrival of the new coach marks a new chapter for 3SC, with supporters hoping the new technical leadership will bring stability, consistency and improved results.

The club on Sunday announced that it had parted ways with Aweroro.

The development came just days before the start of the new Nigeria Premier Football League season, bringing an abrupt end to his period in charge of Shooting Stars.

The club also confirmed that Team Manager Tammy Tamuno and Assistant Coach Shakiru Lawal had left their respective positions with immediate effect.

Shooting Stars, however, did not disclose the specific reasons behind the decision, describing the departure as a mutual agreement following discussions between the club and members of the technical team.
