Oladipupo Adebutu, the 2027 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a “sinking ship” in the state.

“The APC is a sinking ship in Ogun State. No amount of padding—whether of election figures, contracts, or political theatrics—can stop their downfall,” Mr Adebutu stated in a statement by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, on Sunday.

The politician’s statement came after Governor Ademola Adeleke defeated the APC’s Bola Oyebamiji to secure a second term in office.

Mr Adebutu, who congratulated Mr Adeleke on his victory, added that “the will of the people will always prevail over political deceit.”

The politician reaffirmed his commitment to reclaiming what he called the “stolen mandate” of Ogun people, urging PDP supporters to remain resolute.

He also prayed for Mr Adeleke’s continued wisdom and strength, expressing confidence that “the light of the PDP will soon illuminate Ogun State.”

Mr Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, was announced winner by the state returning officer in the early hours of Sunday after a fiercely contested poll across the state’s 30 local government areas.

Mr Oyebamiji, the state’s former finance commissioner, came second, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, emerged as the second runner-up.
