Consumer protection council seizes multimillion-naira expired products from Kano supermarket

A supermarket, SUFAYE Investment, has handed over damaged and expired products worth over N28 million to the Kano State Consumer Protection Council for disposal.
According to a statement on Tuesday, the council’s executive secretary, Ibrahim Garba-Muhammad, described the supermarket’s action as a significant decision.
Mr Garba-Muhammad called on other companies and business owners in the state to emulate SUFAYE by withdrawing adulterated products from the market instead of selling them to the public.
The executive secretary commended residents, companies and business owners in the state for their cooperation and support toward protecting consumers and ensuring the safety and quality of products in the market.
The supermarket’s manager, Mr Jabir, said the initiative was part of the company’s efforts to ensure that the products do not reach its customers.
He said the supermarket’s management always checks its products for compliance with regulatory requirements and sound business practices.
‎He commended KSCPC for its continuous monitoring and supervision of products in the market, saying that such efforts would contribute significantly to protecting public health.
‎Mr Jabir said the company would continue to produce quality products, particularly beverages, while contributing to the state’s economic development. ‎
