Police apprehend two suspected members of Ogun ‘one chance’ syndicate

The Ogun State police command has arrested two suspects linked to one chance robbery terrorising commuters within the Abeokuta metropolis.
The two suspects identified as Bidemi Tijani, 29 and Olajide Rasaq, 42, were apprehended on Saturday, following an intelligence-led operation.
The narration is contained in a statement on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi.
He stated that the arrest was made after the command received an actionable intelligence that members of the syndicate, who routinely disguise as commercial taxi operators to dispossess unsuspecting passengers of their phones, cash, and valuable items, were sighted in a taxi heading towards the Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta.
“Acting promptly on the tip-off, tactical operatives of the VCRU gave the fleeing robbers a hot chase towards Ita-Oshin, successfully intercepting the vehicle and apprehending the two suspects upon interrogation and putting down their statements under caution,” Mr Babaseyi said.
He stated the suspects confessed to being active members of the one chance robbery syndicate terrorising commuters within the Abeokuta metropolis.
Mr Babaseyi added, “Efforts are currently being intensified by operatives to track down and apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate, establish the full extent of their activities, and recover necessary exhibits.”
