The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several establishments in Agege and Mushin over environmental violations.

LASEPA announced the enforcement in a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday.

The agency said the affected establishments violated environmental regulations and failed to implement corrective measures issued after warnings and abatement notices.

It said the exercise was conducted to protect public health, enforce environmental laws and promote a cleaner and safer environment.

In Mushin, LASEPA sealed Akorohunfayo Central Mosque, Fadeyi, and Holy Temple of Christ, Mushin, over noise pollution.

Others sealed over noise pollution were Christ Covenant Gospel Church, Fadeyi, and Christ Apostolic Church (Oye Iyanu), Itire.

LASEPA also sealed Biolarique Bakery Academy, Mushin, for non-compliance with its directives.

It also sealed Tiles & Marbles, Olorunsogo, over air pollution.

The agency further sealed five scrap yards in Agege and Mushin over various environmental infractions.

The affected scrap yards included Abubakar Scrap, Ifako-Ijaiye; Benjamin Scrap Yard and Starlas and Sons Scrap Yard, both in Oko Oba.

Others were Jamin Scrap Yard, Iju Road, Agege, and a scrap yard on Olu Aina Street, Daleko, Mushin.

The agency said it cited the scrap yards for offences including lack of evidence of an e-waste permit, environmental pollution, and non-compliance with its directives.

The agency’s general manager, Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health and preserving the environment through sustained monitoring and enforcement.

Mr Ajayi said environmental compliance remained a collective responsibility, adding that LASEPA would intensify enforcement against activities threatening the environment and public health.

He urged business owners, facility operators, religious institutions, scrap dealers and residents to adopt environmentally responsible practices and obtain necessary permits.

Mr Ajayi also urged stakeholders to comply with regulatory requirements and cooperate with LASEPA towards building a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Lagos.
