Ogogo: Colleagues hold prayer session for ailing Nollywood actor
Colleagues of veteran Nollywood Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, otherwise called Ogogo, held a prayer session on Friday for the actor battling stage four cancer.
One of his colleagues and celebrated role interpreter, Yinka Quadri, said the session held in Lagos drew prominent actors as well as religious leaders.
“Filmmakers and members of the Nigerian film industry are gathering today in Lagos for a special prayer session for our dear colleague and highly respected veteran actor, Taiwo Hassan Ogogo, who is currently indisposed.
“At this moment, we come together in love, unity and faith, lifting him up in our prayers and asking Almighty Allah to grant him complete and speedy recovery,” Mr Quadri stated.
He prayed God Almighty to give Mr Hassan’s family, friends and colleague the strength to stand by the actor.
“May his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones also be given strength, comfort and hope as they stand by him,” Mr Quadri added.
Mr Hassan is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital for treatment. His daughter, Shakira Taiwo, broke news of the actor’s ailment on social media last week.
The actor’s colleague, Toyosi Adesanya, said the Ogun State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Solomon Adeola, facilitated urgent medical assistance for him.
Another colleague, Jide Kosoko, apologised to people who offered to treat Mr Hassan spiritually, adding that it was difficult to move him from the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
The session was attended by several actors and members of the nation’s film industry including Messrs Kosoko, Quadri, Antar Laniyan, National President, Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusa (Mr Latin), Adebayo Salami who joined online and Fausat Balogun, popularly called Madam Saje among many others.
