Beach Volleyball: Nigeria beat Morocco, qualify for Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

The Nigerian women’s beach volleyball team has qualified for the Olympic Games event for the first time in history after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the final of the 2026 CAVB Women’s Beach Volleyball on Saturday.
The team will fly Nigeria’s flag at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, U.S., after their impressive victory against Morocco.
The women beat Morocco in both sets, 21-17 and 21-10, in Alexandria, Egypt, on Saturday to clinch gold and secure their ticket to the Olympic Games.
Earlier on Saturday, the team dispatched Mozambique in the Semi-final, beating their opponents 21-17 and 21-17 in both sets.
Reacting to the achievement, president of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, said the victory is for the entire nation after years of missing out on the Olympics.
“I wish to congratulate Nigerians and thank God. This is the fourth time we are going into the finals; we finished in second place on three occasions,” Mr Nimrod said.
“God has done it for us on our fourth trial and given us victory. It is not the Nigeria Volleyball Federation’s success alone but the entire nation,” he added.
